You might not be all too familiar with this sub-sub-genre called swancore, which is a niche branch from post-hardcore and mainly involves influences from math rock, post rock, and prog rock. Hail The Sun is, together with bands such as Dance Gavin Dance, Royal Coda, and more, one of the best swancore bands out there. Clean vocals and highly technical instrumentation form the core of this genre, which happens to be one of my favourite genres of the moment. The name ‘swancore’ is derived from ‘Blue Swan Records’, which is Will Swan’s (Dance Gavin Dance, Royal Coda) record label. Looks like man’s pretty much created his own genre. Well deserved, if you ask me.
