One of my favourite gigs of 2023 was seeing The Fall Of Troy play the basement of Dynamo, Eindhoven, with ’68 taking on the support slot. ’68’s seemingly improvised noise/garage rock was blowing my mind. Every single song was a surprise, and sounded like it was made up on the spot. This immensely powerful sound coming from 2 highly skilled musicians in full-blown suits, really made a lasting impression on me. Highlight of the gig was the ending, where singer/guitarist Josh Scogin started removing the drum kit from stage, with Nikko Yamada continuing to drum on a constantly decreasing amount of equipment, ending with just a crash cymbal and snare drum. Absolutely brilliant performance. A true delight being able to witness this band play live.
