It’s the first day of December! I figured it would be fun to do something a little bit different this month. That’s why every Jam of Today in December will be a 2023 release. A nice look back at this year in music, right in time before we have to finish those darn end-of-year lists. Who knows, maybe you will be able to discover some nice tunes from this year right before closing time.

As always, my year was pretty gig-filled. Probably the best gig of the year was the 2nd time seeing Empire State Bastard live. Seeing them at 2000trees in July left me behind feeling slightly bewildered, but after seeing them in the Melkweg in November, I felt like I finally started to understand what’s going on with this band. My first listen to ‘Rivers Of Heresy’ filled me with a lot of confusion, not really knowing how I felt about it, but after being blown away by their 2nd live performance, I am now finally able to hear the shear quality that pulsates in the deep veins of this masterpiece. ‘Rivers Of Heresy’ will definitely be a contender for album of the year.
