#2151: Dope – Nothing For Me Here

Quite some time ago now, I added a few Static-X songs to the playlist. Obviously 90s classic ‘Push It’ (21-12-2020) has made it into the list, but also 2020-release ‘Terminator Oscillator’ (22-6-2023) occasionally comes on shuffle. As part of ‘Project: Regeneration’, Static-X released a bunch of old stuff by Wayne Static, who sadly passed away in 2014. ‘Terminator Oscillator’ is also part of this project, however, it is one of the few songs that doesn’t feature vocals by Wayne Static but instead but a masked figure going by the name of Xer0. After a bunch of speculation, this masked figure turned out to be Edsel Dope, lead singer of 90s/00s metal group Dope. Dope’s industrial nu-metal became popular with songs such as ‘Die MF Die’, ‘Debonaire’, and a cover of Dead or Alive’s classic ‘You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)’. Not to mention my personal favourite ‘Nothing For Me Here’ which – in my humble opinion – might even be superior to the aforementioned songs. I think that’s more than enough reason to highlight this epic tune. I really love it when the Jam of Today playlist has me going down all these rabbit holes!
