This week marks a special one in my life: I’m moving house! Now, it is obviously not the first time ever that I am moving house but what makes this move a little bit more special than the others is that I will be moving abroad for the first time. Coming Friday, I will make the trip overseas and make London my new base.
My last few weeks have been occupied by packing boxes and tidying our current apartment. To be fair, I don’t really mind packing boxes. I quite enjoy it, actually! Especially because I gave myself a little challenge amidst this packing fiesta. As I have about 500 records that require boxing, I figured it would be fun to try and play as many records as I could just one time, before packing them away. Obviously, I won’t be able to play most of them, but I thought it would be fun rediscovering some records I haven’t played in ages. The next two weeks, I will highlight some nice finds – mostly album tracks – that I enjoyed listening to while packing up my place in Amsterdam.
Starting off with the first record I played after coming up with this idea: ‘Golden Hour’ by Kacey Musgraves. A bunch of tracks have already made it into the playlist but ‘Velvet Elvis’ hadn’t yet. I started listening to this album about 6 months after its release in 2018, after being tipped by a colleague. Not long after, ‘Golden Hour’ turned into one of my favourite albums. It has fallen off of the ranks a bit as of 2024 but I still very much enjoy this album. Even though I generally don’t like this genre at all.
Kacey Musgraves – ‘Golden Hour’ was the 1st record I packed! Stay tuned for more stories surrounding my move to London, and me (re)discovering some of my favourite albums in my collection.
