Now that I’m officially living in London, I can’t help but including some proper British culture into the playlist. KURUPT FM is a collective known for their mockumentary series ‘People Just Do Nothing’ (2012), surrounding a pirate radio station playing UK Garage and Jungle music. It’s a bit too much diving into the history and importance of this genre right now but make sure to check out the documentary ‘8 Bar – The Evolution of Grime’ to learn more. I can highly recommend it.
Back to KURUPT FM. In collaboration with plenty of legends in the scene, the group released an actual album called ‘The Greatest Hits (Part 1)’ in 2021. Though Kurupt releasing an album might sound a bit comedic, the songs on this release are actually really good. Take ‘Original Rudeboyz’, featuring yet another legend in General Levy. Proper banger.
KURUPT FM – ‘The Greatest Hits (Part 1)’ was the 27th record I packed! Stay tuned for more stories surrounding my move to London, and me (re)discovering some of my favourite albums in my collection.
