It’s time to wrap up this wild adventure and time to properly start settling in. It’s truly been a year to never forget. The copious amounts of stress mixed in with the overwhelming excitement makes for a cocktail that could be considered unbearable at times.
It took me almost a full year and a full fortune to acquire a UK visa. I had to go through several hours long meetings, printed many, many documents, signed probably even more, and even had to take an English exam (even though my partner’s British!) to make sure that I’m worthy of living in the UK. I had to give up my passport for several months, ask my friends and family if they could write me a letter to prove me and my partner’s relationship, and had to do innumerable other things I have (luckily) already blocked from my memory.
Thus, the final question arises: was it all worth it? Well, here we are, ready to find out if it indeed will be worth it. Last year was filled with both good news and bad news. But in the end, me and my partner could always rely on each other. As was sung by one of my favourite artists. In German, though. I thought that would be fitting just nicely for this occasion.
Danger Dan – ‘Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt’ was the 64th record I packed! Many thanks for following my stories surrounding my move to London. Jam of Today will continue as normally from tomorrow onwards.
