Although I think this sound is getting pretty dated in 2024, I still enjoy some good (Drum &) Bass every now and then. Londoners Ivy Lab are quite good at making this genre called Halftime, which is somewhat of a chiller version of Drum & Bass. Halftime mainly uses unconventional rhythms and often sits around 80-85 BPM, which makes it about half the time of a regular Drum & Bass beat. ‘Cake’ is taken from Ivy Lab’s 2018 release ‘Death Don’t Always Taste Good’ and has some hints to artists like Hudson Mohawke and Sinjin Hawke, both of those being artists that I like quite a lot.
