While discovering music, there’s a few things that regularly happen to me during the time span of 1 calendar year. Let me quickly state the three most common situations here for you.
- I finally decide to listen to this band I’ve been reading about for years already
- I discover a band that’s broken up already
- I fall head over heels in love with an album from years before
In Press to MECO’s case, all three of these instances applied in 2024. As always, I’m many years late discovering this band since they have already broken up a few years ago. Also, since they have played 2000trees probably about 2000 times, I have been very aware of their existence for a solid time already, too. This year, however, turned out to be the year that their albums ‘Here’s to the Fatigue’ (2018) and ‘Transmute’ (2021) became household names amongst my listening habits. To be fair, I wouldn’t even be surprised if the latter is actually my most played one of 2024. I guess that technically makes it my Album of the Year… Ha! I suppose that’s up for debate…
