Anyone remember Benthos? Last year I discovered this Italian experimental prog. metal band and became quite obsessed with their song ‘Talk to Me, Dragonfly!‘. Well, they have now returned with their first proper release since 2021. I played ‘Fossil’ for the first time last Thursday and, wow. Just wow. It literally blew me away. I know I talk about many songs on this blog that I really like and many more new releases that impressed me, but this one might seriously be one of the best songs I’ve heard all year. It’s a 6,5 minute long journey through insane guitar riffs and mathcore-esque time structures. Absolute madness!
