Went to do some adventuring the other day and ended up in a charity shop where – much to my surprise – they had this album up for sale! Usually the record sections in charity shops are nothing short of pitiful, but seeing Phoxjaw’s debut up for sale made me curious to see what else they had on offer. I eventually ended up with Rainn Byrns’s (signed!) debut ‘New In Town‘ (2022) and a pretty (numbered!) reissue of Senses Fail’s ‘The Fire‘ (2010) for a total of about 19 pound. Given that I already own Phoxjaw’s ‘Royal Swan’, I left that one in the shop for some other lucky collector to take. However, I couldn’t resist spinning it as soon as I got home. What an album this is!
