Back in 2017, British singer-songwriter Adam French released a cover of The Walkmen’s ‘The Rat’ and turned the forceful and rattling classic into an intimate pop tune. For quite some time, I actually preferred this version over the original, although at the time I was quite obsessed with Adam French so that might have something to do with it, too. Either way, after all these years I have come to terms with the fact that the 2004-version is indeed quite unsurpassed in every way possible. Great classic for this great Sunday.
