Living in the UK and having family in The Netherlands means I occasionally get tasked with purchasing some hard to get 7″ vinyl from my area. Since Br*xit, shipping costs from the UK to NL have skyrocketed, not to mention the added VAT and other taxes you have to pay on top of it. It easily makes ordering – in this case – music twice as expensive than me doing it from London. Therefore, my relatives ask me to order their records and I carry ’em with me whenever I head over to The Netherlands, once every 2 months or so. Great deal! The other day, I received another shopping list’s worth of 7″ to order. One specific order, however, required a minimum amount of money spent before being able to wrap it up, so I snuck in myself a little 7″ too, namely Irish punk band Sultans Of Ping F.C.’s ‘Stupid Kid‘. Sadly, not much music by the Cork lot is available on Spotify (or at least it isn’t for me, if you try hard enough you might be able to find ‘Casual Sex in the Cineplex‘ on a streaming service in your area) and whereas I’d love adding my recently bought 7″ to the Jam of Today playlist (which I might still do at some point in the future), I feel like I should first highlight their epic classic ‘Where’s Me Jumper?’, perhaps one of the most uplifting rabble-rousing punk songs I know, ‘cos: where the hell is that jumper?!
