Quite a blow for the hardcore scene as upcoming band GEL have abruptly disbanded following some insane stuff done by their (former) guitarist. Apparently, this individual had stolen tens of thousands of dollars off of the band’s shared account and spent it on personal stuff including – I quote: “a truly unbelievable number of OnlyFans purchases“. Furthermore, this particular person did not only put the other band members in danger due to dangerous driving, he also went on to share nudes by his fellow band members on Reddit. Absolutely nuts!! I can’t believe how ridiculously ludicrous this story is. I found out about this mad stuff after stumbling upon this Nik Nocturnal video the other day, who dives into it a bit deeper than me. However, in an absolutely hilariously weird turn of events, GEL ‘released’ an AI created song called ‘Gooners‘ of which the lyrics are basically the exact statement they posted on their socials. It seems like they’ve removed this song from their Spotify again, but it doesn’t take anything away from the fact that this is without a doubt one of the wildest and most absurd band break-up stories I’ve heard in a looooong time. As crazy as it may be, it doesn’t take anything away from the fact that GEL – who were scheduled to play one of my annual festivals in 2000trees – is no longer. And that truly is a blow.
