7 days until Jam of Today’s June Special! Be sure to tune in to a month full of captivating stories surrounding albums featured in my record collection.
I once again got caught off guard by what turned out to be a surprising earworm. ‘Allbarone’ – unmistakably referencing to UK pub chain ‘All Bar One’ – is Baxter Dury’s latest single and first ahead of his new album carrying that same name. It is as catchy as any of my favourite songs by audiobooks and weirdly reminds me of this Belgium one-hit-wonder by Van Echelpoel, who very briefly took the Dutch and Flemish internet by storm with their absurd song ‘Ziet Em Duun‘. With Dury’s vocal style being similar to that of his father, ‘Allbarone’ turns into some kind of dirty electro-disco tune ready to be played way too loud in some strange club in the middle of nowhere.
