Since tomorrow will mark the start of a month full of Specials here on Jam of Today, I’d like to use this opportunity to share some music I definitely won’t be able to highlight in the next 30 days. Since this year’s June special is all about albums I own a copy of in my personal music collection, my task today was pretty simple: just pick a tune that’s not on a record that I own. Bloodhound Gang’s ‘One Fierce Beer Coaster’ might be one of the albums I’ve listened to the most in my life, without ever having owned a physical copy of it. I know all the words to all the songs and have probably listened to it over a hundred times during my life, but it still didn’t find its way into my record collection. Discogs tells me finding a vinyl copy of this album might be tricky and would certainly cost a pound or two more than I’m willing to spend, so I suppose my search for this somewhat controversial classic will resume once more.
Either way, I hope you will enjoy next month’s Special here on Jam of Today! I’ve been writing some nice stories about certain albums in my record collection that I’m looking forward to sharing here with you on the website. It’s been a lot of fun preparing this year’s June Special and it certainly served its original purpose for me, namely rediscovering and reliving some great albums I have in my collection. Be sure to tune in from June 1st ’til June 30th, here on the ol’ familiar bloggerino.
