Once in a blue moon I give Spotify’s Discover Weekly playlist a chance and this time, it payed off! This American math band hadn’t been on my radar yet but ever since ‘Cancel Creature’ got pitched to me, I’ve been spinning this band more and more. In a way, I felt a bit familiar with Cicadia already since its vocalist – Dylan McBride – also happens to be the front man of Lilac Kings, whose song ‘Letting Go‘ featured on Jam of Today back in September 2021. As I’ve learned throughout the years, this side of the post-hardcore scene features more overlap than the shingles on my roof! Apparently Cicadia is no different. Well, as long as it continues to deliver great music, I won’t be complaining about a shared band member or two.
