New music’s coming in thick and fast these days and I find some of my playlists overflowing with tunes I need to have a second listen to. Let’s see if we can dedicate the rest of this week to sharing a few recently released tunes I have taken a solid liking to, as well as trying to keep it as diverse and eclectic as possible.
Today’s artist certainly makes for a great assortment in this music week given that Ninajirachi’s hyperpop makes me think of Hannah Diamond on steroids: extremely electronic, very much over the top, and stupidly catchy. It works surprisingly well, given that the Australian 26-year-old’s debut album ‘I Love My Computer‘ is scooping up brilliant reviews left right and centre. I got to say, I completely understand all the positivity surrounding this album. Yes, it could certainly be seen as attempted murder on your ability to concentrate but dear lord, I bet those smooth hyperpop transitions throughout this thing are the absolute icing on the cake for many young adults reminiscing to the good old 00s they’d never lived through. I suppose I’m a bit too old to be part of that demographic (I’m pretty bald after all) but I do certainly enjoy myself some PC Music-influenced content on a day like this and it seems like Ninajirachi (or, me?) is just about hip and cool enough to be liked by a slightly older generation, too.
