#2740: Lemaitre – Time

Let me tell you a little secret about Jam of Today. Or perhaps a nice insight would be a better way of wording it. Next to the all familiar playlist full of all our Jams (one each day, since April 2018!), there’s another playlist affiliated to this weblog. It’s one that’s only accessible to me though, and features songs that I’ve picked up on and took a liking to but which haven’t made it onto this website yet. It’s one that’s regularly updated – not as frequently as the ‘normal’ playlist but still, I’d say I add a few songs each month. Every now and then, instead of playing the Jam of Today playlist on shuffle for the billionth time, I like to dive into this one and see what hidden gems I collected for myself in the past to highlight here on the blog on a later moment. I don’t really have any rules or regulations surrounding what songs make it into this playlist, it’s generally just songs I like and would probably want to feature here on the website at some point. Some songs never make it onto the blog at all and get deleted from this playlist whatsoever, since I didn’t quite like ’em as much as I thought I would. Others stay in a bit longer. None will stay in for more than 1 year, though. That’s the cut-off score. If I haven’t highlighted it on Jam of Today by then, I must not like it well enough. Today’s a prime example of one of the conundrums I face during this situation, namely: I still quite like a song, even though it’s been in this playlist for a year and I haven’t featured it on the blog yet. Well, that means there’s only one thing left to do: write about it on the day it’s supposed to be deleted from my ‘backlog’ playlist. That’s where we find ‘Time’ by Norwegian electronic act Lemaitre, a song which got added to this particular playlist exactly one year ago, on October 1st 2024. A day on which I shared a song by junodream, funnily enough sharing a similar story as to this one. Liked it -> let it sit for a while -> came back to it -> shared it. So, there you have it. A brief insight into the beautiful world that is Jam of Today. Hope you will stick around for more exciting stories in the future! I’ll probably be here for the rest of time so you know where to find me for tales about my life and the music that I like. Cheers!
