This is one of the most surprising new releases of last month. Never did I expect to highlight a new song by Paris Shadows here on the blog. See, I was quite a bit into emo rap roughly 8 years ago (try searching for Lil Peep on the website and you will get a tonne of results). One of my most played artists during that time in my life was Paris Shadows, who released one of my favourite emo rap albums back in 2018 called ‘ONE NIGHT IN PARIS‘ (back then while still known as Paris). Since I’ve changed my listening habits quite a bit over the years, you haven’t been able to find this artist’s name anywhere on the blog up until today but ‘Last Time Around’ featuring fellow emo POORSTACY is worth a mention. While spinning Spotify’s ‘Release Radar’ playlist last Friday, this incredibly obviously 80s-inspired catchy new wave tune caught my attention. At first, I thought this was some kind of unknown and under-the-radar band since the Swedish streaming service’s algorithm often incorporates something cheeky into this particular playlist but much to my surprise, this song was actually by an artist I would’ve least expected it from. Paris Shadows, whose music I’ve left back in my emo rap years up until today, has managed to release a brand new tune that I thoroughly enjoy. The only mysterious factor surrounding this song seems to be the fact that leaks have been made public as far back as 2023. Even Paris Shadows himself released a slowed-down snippet of this song over 2,5 years ago already! So, yeah, I don’t know how ‘new’ is new but this song seems to be out officially now and I perceive ‘Last Time Around’ to be of high enough quality for a feature on the blog here today.
