Went to see These New Puritans last night and had a wonderful time. I was pleasantly surprised and at times blown away by the sheer beauty of the songs the British experimental art band performed in Amsterdam’s Bitterzoet. It was an evening full of highly atmospheric, calming and mesmerising songs. At times it felt a bit proto-Glass Animals or Folly Group, but then it swiftly touched upon jazz acts such as BadBadNotGood and GoGo Penguin, too. Minimalistic neo-classical music with a hint of Radiohead. ‘Organ Eternal’ marked the end of the set, dragged deep into the night by ways of 10+ minute long instrumental magnificence. Absolutely phenomenal. One of the best gigs of 2025.
