#2780: Mclusky – To Hell With Good Intentions

Ahead of These New Puritans’ show last week in Amsterdam, this song was blasting through the venue’s speakers. Looking back at the gig it wasn’t really in line with what These New Puritans would eventually sound like but it was good fun hearing this Mclusky song nonetheless. It reminded me of seeing them live earlier this year during 2000trees. Mclusky is one of these bands present on the festival’s line up basically each year and this time I finally figured to check it out, which was a good shout! I haven’t yet fully familiarised myself with much of their discography but this one I still vividly remember as a song I claimed to be ‘good’ and ‘fun to listen to’ during their show.

Great to see this track pop up here!

‘To Hell with Good Intentions’ was my first encounter with Mclusky — I actually bought the CD ‘Mclusky do Dallas’ back in 2002, and it’s still one of those songs that never lost its edge. Such a brilliant mix of rawness and wit.

Never got to see the band live, unfortunately, but this one always brings back that early-2000s energy perfectly!
