Hi! Thanks for stopping by on my weblog. I’m Gijs. I’ve been hosting Jam of Today since April 3rd 2018, a day on which I decided to create a playlist on Spotify and add one single song to it every single day.

I initially started Jam of Today as a little side project of a previous blog of mine. However, as time went on, I lost the motivation to continue writing on that particular blog and I decided to only focus on Jam of Today by simply adding one song to my playlist every day. I found myself doing this day in, day out. Months and years passed by, and as I regained the urge to write some stories again, I picked up blogging and turned Jam of Today into its own website, starting in July 2023. From that point onwards, my daily songs turned into daily stories, which you can all read here on my blog.

The concept remained equally as straightforward: I would highlight one song, add it to my playlist, and additionally write a little story revolving the Jam I picked that day. This formula did wonders for me, and even though I’ve always wanted to keep Jam of Today a very minimal blog focused on sharing music, I often found my stories growing bigger and bigger, so much so that I now perceive Jam of Today as my own musical diary.

Oh, before I forget. I’d like to mention one more thing. This might seem obvious, but I wanted to point it out either way. Jam of Today does not make any use of AI technology for the creation of its content. All blog posts you will read on this website have been handwritten by me, Gijs, and will always be handwritten by me. Whether it’s the endless amounts of legacy posts, artist tag archives, or whatever other text you will read on this website: all has been written by me without the help of AI. I just wanted to make that clear. Regarding the imagery you will see on Jam of Today: any photo that is not an album cover will have been taken by me or one of my close friends, unless specifically stated otherwise.
