#2226: black midi – Near DT, MI

Had another spell of black midi this week after finding this live video of their show in Xi’an last summer, during a tour that also lead them past places such as Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Mongolia’s capital Ulaanbaatar. I instantly found myself listening to their 3 albums in chronological order again, being reminded of what a frantically interesting band this still is. It’s been a bit quiet around black midi recently, though. Geordie Greep and Cameron Picton have taken on some other (solo) projects (Geordie Greep and The Swing Boys + Cámara Imagen) but even more interesting was this song that I found by former black midi guitarist Matt Kwasniewki-Kelvin (standing on the left in the video below) who kicked off his solo career in a… well, let’s just say very interesting, straightforward way. Anyway, here’s one of many black midi songs that I really like.
