I vividly remember listening to Peter McPoland’s album ‘Piggy’ for the first time. On a hot Friday afternoon, walking through the streets of inner city Amsterdam. I really enjoyed listening to this album and I genuinely thought it was going to be a contender for Album of the Year – or otherwise at least for a spot in the Top 5 of 2023. Things went differently, though. 2023 was an overwhelmingly good music year for me personally and this album sadly got lost in the pile of ‘Good albums, should listen again’. One year later, I still hold fond memories of discovering this album. ‘Mold’ is the opening track of ‘Piggy’ and really highlights the unique sound Peter McPoland is going for. A truly underrated singer-songwriter.
