Dude… this must be one of the wettest days I’ve ever experienced in my life! Haha! Here at the island of Yakushima, we’re amidst a micro-climate forcing a continuous torrential downpour upon us for basically the entire day so far. Honestly, it’s crazy! I can’t believe all is holding up so well here. If this would happen in The Netherlands, I bet half the country would be completely gridlocked. Anyway, having brought a fair amount of rain gear, it didn’t stop us from going on a somewhat more casual hike through Yakusugi Land, which was filled with beautifully green and mossy trees. Even though the trail itself was a bit more casual than yesterday’s, I still feel like hiking is just not the most favourite thing in the world for me personally. Again, today, mainly due to the wetness I was super careful not slipping and bonking my head on the many overhanging trees (though I still managed to do so several times…) and it kind of took the fun away for me, not being able to enjoy the nature as much as I probably could’ve. Either way, I still enjoyed being out and about and the friendliness of the locals in combination with all the lovely stuff you stumble upon down here makes every day a wonderful day.
