#2950: MCR-T & horsegiirL – My Barn My Rules

As one strolls past some of Shikoku’s most beautiful gorges and drives along its most scenic routes, one asks themselves many questions as they reflect on the life they are living and the phenomenal country they find themselves in. “Where do I see myself in 10 years?“, “How do I find meaning in life?“, or the equally as important “What is the ultimate song to play during a road trip?“. While trying to answer that final question today, we swiftly reached the conclusion that our designated playlist for this holiday does not contain many stereotypical road tripping songs such as Steppenwolf’s ‘Born to be Wild’, Tom Cochrane’s ‘Life is a Highway’, or perhaps Lynyrd Skynyrd’s ‘Sweet Home Alabama’. Instead, going on a journey with six people with an above-average interest in music means our daily shuffles will be stuffed with the latest and greatest by artists such as Angine de Poitrine, black midi, and James Blake instead. Not that I mind. Not at all! In fact, I feel like obscure tunes by Dog (‘Beep! Beep! Honk! Honk!‘), 100 gecs (‘Frog On The Floor‘), and Jockstrap (‘Jennifer B‘) are more than suitable for a journey through Japan. Take this Jam by MCR-T and horsegiirL, which is another prime example of a song providing us much joy during our endeavours! Safe to say not every road trip ever commenced is the same, and I guess that counts for its musical aid, too…
