Today marked a special moment in my year. For the first time in over two years, I picked up my drumming again! I rented a rehearsal space near my home to take place behind the kit and even though I was a bit rusty, it filled me with much joy to have finally played my beloved instrument again. My goal for now is to keep a consistent once-a-week rhythm going with this and to help me achieve that, I’m crafting a bit of a setlist for me to play during my rehearsal sessions. I crafted this little playlist consisting of 19 songs that I like and know the drums of pretty well – ranging from quite straightforward to seriously challenging – and with these songs, I’m hoping to get all smoothened up again. Over the course of this weekend, I’ll try and figure out what will be the ideal order for me to play those particular songs in and hopefully, in a couple of months, I will be mastering all these songs on the drums! Funny enough, all songs in my ‘To Drum’ playlist have already been published on Jam of Today before so perhaps I’ll add today’s Jam as a ‘bonus track’ to my practice setlist. Biffy‘s song ‘Different People‘ remains my all-time favourite song to play on the drums so maybe I can make it my goal to master their discography – starting with album ‘Opposites’ – at some point.
