I had heard so many positive stories about Adult DVD this year that I simply couldn’t ignore them when they played Haldern Pop. And I’m glad I didn’t. In all honesty, it took me a minute to warm up to Adult DVD’s discography – I couldn’t quite step away from the fact that there’s a serious sense of repetitiveness at times – but I’m now definitely getting used to their sound which I can only really describe as Home Counties meets Underworld. A very odd and surprising combination, but it works! Or so proves their show in Japan from earlier this year. One thing’s for sure: Adult DVD is guaranteed to get the party started. ‘Rolling Face’, which’ll be the album ender of the band’s forthcoming debut (out September 25th), is probably the best showcase of this danceable mix of influences.
