A day well spent in The Hague today, another one of many Dutch cities I don’t visit quite enough, or so I realised today. It’s been a lovely day! I even got myself some goodies including a long-awaited (and original!) second hand Game Boy backpack to finally store some of my most beloved retro games. We topped off the day with some pizza and… Friko! We stopped by The Hague’s pop venue Paard to attend their annual Paard van Stal festival: a small evening festival with a handful of alternative and under-the-radar bands playing some very interesting sets. After seeing a little bit of Australian indie band The Belair Lip Bombs, we headed down to our headliner for the night in Friko who played an awesome set. Really, the Chicago band must be one of indie rock’s most interesting and technically gifted bands out there right now. What a top group of musicians. A must-see! Something that can also be said about Ghanaian cult act Ata Kak. Probably the closet to the Scatman I’ll ever get. Either way: top day! Even the cloudburst on the bike ride home couldn’t change any of it.
