Having only barely processed my hectic Tuesday and my first ever Japanese lesson, I already find myself in another country less than twelve hours later as I set foot in the UK once more, this time to watch my beloved Dutch football team AZ Alkmaar play a European away game over at Sunderland, up north in England. Whenever we play a game on the other side of the canal, I simply got to make sure to be there. Nothing beats seeing your favourite team play a game in the country that’s known to be the home of football, let’s face it. This one will be great fun for several reasons, for one because it marks a special occasion for the home side today seeing as they have returned to playing European football for the first time in over 50 years. Congratulations, Sunderland AFC! And welcome back. Surely this will mean a thrilling atmosphere tonight over at the Stadium of Light. But, of course, I’ll be rooting my own team to a victory tonight. Time to get a few pints in and get this ball rolling, aye? Kick it in the net!
