Being in a city as big as Tokyo, you got to make peace with the fact that you will never be able to see everything you want to see. There’s just so much to do that you will be unable to squeeze everything into however long you’re staying in the city. Basically: the clock’s always ticking. A day like today’s makes it the more frustrating. See, it all started off well with a great visit to the National Museum of Nature and Science down in Ueno Park but as I set my mind to doing a bit of shopping later that day, I found myself walking all over Harajuku and Ginza – two pretty darn posh areas and thus probably not all too interesting for me in hindsight – and not purchasing anything. Unbelievable! Haha, I’m just kidding of course. I got my hopes up for buying one specific item from one specific store but since both locations of this shop had queues to enter, I immediately decided against wasting my time standing in line to potentially not find what I’m looking for. Either way, I got myself a solid amount of steps in and got to see a lot of said neighbourhoods which I can now safely ignore for the rest of my time in Tokyo. Tomorrow will be slightly different for me as I will travel towards the city of Machida, near Tokyo’s western edge, which will probably be a bit of more like my old-school London explorations: going to a random location within the city and try and squeeze it for everything it has to offer. More on that tomorrow!
