#3000: Laddermen – Texas Winter

3000 times Jam of Today! Pretty crazy number, if you think of it. For 3000 days straight now, I’ve highlighted a song that I’ve been into on that specific day, this way creating a humongous diary full of musical memories for myself. I’ve had a great time doing it and I’m looking forward to continuing this journey! I’ll be celebrating today’s feat by highlighting Laddermen’s 2024-release ‘Life Got Lame and Now You’re Boredonce again. The second full-length of the Leopold Oakes-fronted post-punk group is a real hidden gem. Inspired by American genre-counterparts, similarities to bands such as Interpol, The Voidz, or Modest Mouse are never far away, but with a real dose of Texas-twang, Oakes turns this album into an emotional highlight from start to finish, something he has used as a foundation for his latest works ‘Car Bomb‘ and ‘Builder‘. Now being a lone cowboy in the city of London, Laddermen continues as a one-man-band, though the formerly Switzerland-based project has long proven to be worth way more praise than it has gotten up to this point.

In addition to today’s festivities, we’re only a month away ’til Jam of Today (as in: the website) celebrates its 3rd birthday! Even though I don’t want to spoil too much of the fun already, I’m excited to tell you that I’m working hard on some things to give this blog a well-deserved upgrade. If you look closely, you might already spot a few changes here and there! Anyway, here’s to another 3000 (and more!) Jams. Cheers!
