The Netherlands is preparing itself for what will be three of the hottest days ever recorded. After noting the warmest 24th of June since the start of temperature measuring, tomorrow, Friday, and Saturday we’ll reach highs of about 38/39, and locally even over 40 degrees celsius. As today ‘only’ reached a mere 35 degrees where I live, I still fulfilled my somewhat busy schedule of cycling for half an hour picking up a recently purchased bike, and squeezing in a 2-hour drum session. Safe to say it was a sweaty day today. To be honest, even working from home was a challenge in this weather. It’s hard not to feel upset about the rise of temperatures on our planet when we’re facing such extreme heat. Europe has struggled a lot with several places heating up like an oven right before Christmas Lunch and with no solution or end in sight, it’s hard to enjoy what has always been my favourite season of the year. Right as we’re about to hit the three hottest days ever, I’m about to embark on a 3-day trip to my favourite Dutch festival in Jera on Air. As the festival has already taken measurements to tackle the heat and it generally being one of the most well-organised festivals I go to, I’m confident they’ll make sure to make it as manageable as can be. Thank God I’m not camping, otherwise I would’ve probably seriously considered staying home, although I’m planning on taking each day as it comes now anyway. Honestly, I’m usually quite good with the heat but this is even starting to get the best of me. Let’s see how we’ll get through this heat. For now: be sure to stay hydrated and avoid as much direct sunlight as possible. Stay safe out there!
