#3009: The Offspring – The Kids Aren’t Alright

Aaaaand we’re back! Back home, that is. Jera on Air is a wrap! For us at least, since the festival is still in full swing and is as we speak reaching its climax. After two sweltering days, we decided to call it for this year’s edition and go home a bit earlier than originally planned. Mainly because we had to check out early from our lodge today and we didn’t feel like strolling around for hours in the heat until the festival gates (or perhaps ‘gates of hell’ is more fitting with these temperatures) had opened. So, yeah. We bailed. But: that doesn’t take anything away from the great fun we had on both evenings we were present. After doing a great job on watching a few solid acts on the first night, our tally wasn’t as impressive for night two: a mere four acts is all that ended up on our bill. Those four acts were generally pretty cool, though. The Offspring and A Day To Remember played a fun nostalgia set, while Malevolence ripped the Buzzard to shreds with their blasting hardcore set and Bad Nerves doing what Bad Nerves does best: playing a rapid-fire set of thumping rock songs. As always, Jera on Air was absolutely great and even though we spent less overall time at the actual festival than any of the years before, it was still a true pleasure to be back in Ysselsteyn. I can’t recommend this festival enough to anyone that enjoys a fair share of rock, metal, punk, and hardcore. See you next year!
