Another productive day in the books as I got another drumming session under the belt. My approach was slightly different this time: instead of sticking to the two dedicated playlists I’ve created for my rehearsals, I spent my first hour in the studio drumming along to the Jam of Today Spotify playlist on shuffle. This gave me some fun and unexpected challenges, such as playing along to the furious jungle beats of KURUPT FM’s ‘Original Rudeboyz‘, going out of the box for songs like ‘Glasbak‘, or improvising to Jain’s ‘Gloria‘. I experienced this as a nice way to test my skills as a drummer and I think I will keep this up next time I’m playing. In fact, let’s spice the sessions up a little more by adding the raging and highly challenging drums on Eidola’s ‘Mutual Fear’ to the playlist. So far, Eidola’s songs have proven themselves to be a little too difficult for me to play so let’s see how long it will take me to memorise all the technical sections on this one.
