After releasing political heavyweights ‘Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt‘ (2021) and more recently ‘Keine Angst’, Danger Dan now releases ‘Zum Späti’ ahead of his newest album sharing the same name as his latest viral hit. This song showcases the other side of Daniel Pongratz, being a romantic one. Previously, the German rapper-turned-singer/songwriter managed to capture the hearts of many with beautifully emotional piano songs such as ‘Lauf davon‘ and ‘Eine gute Nachricht‘, and this latest tune proves to be another one that I’m sure many German city folk will relate to. A declaration of love to the Spätkauf, or Späti for short: a late-night convenient of corner store found throughout cities in the eastern parts of the country. Writing what is basically a love song to a supermarket seems somewhat unconventional, but isn’t that just how we’ve gotten to know Danger Dan over the last few years?
