Sometimes it takes a hot minute to get into the rhythm of the day, especially when it’s pouring it down for the majority of it. The visit to the floral village Yufuin was a bit of a wet and touristic disaster, for me at least – even the cat cafe didn’t make up for much. The magical wisteria gardens near Kitakyushu made for some scenic pictures, though the real highlight of this day came in the form of a few nifty souvenirs I picked up. See, as a lifelong Pokémon enthusiast, Japan is the place to be for a gadget or two of this famous franchise and I happily managed to secure myself of a copy of Pokémon Green and Pokémon Crystal for the GameBoy Color, as well as a gigantic stack of Pokémon cards at one of the city’s local Bookoffs – basically a gigantic store with all kinds of second hand items. This all for the price of only a few hard earned Euros. Yeah, if you want to get yourself a bargain, go visit Japan. Especially if you fancy one particular franchise, you will guaranteed find an originally released item or two for barely any money and amazing quality. Mood = lifted.
