Perhaps amongst the more exhausting days on the road are the ones where you actually spend most time travelling from A to B. That’s probably why this car-filled day has knocked us out a bit now that we’re nearing the end of the night. Definitely doesn’t have anything to do with the free drinks we got at the izakaya yesterday, I promise… Ha! All jokes aside, today was mostly making sure we made it to Magome-juku in one piece and, well: we did. On our way, we had a few amazing stops including one at the beautiful Onigajo rock formations and one totally in the middle of nowhere in Mie prefecture, where we had some stunning lunch prepared by a lovely old couple. The vibes were pretty good today, I think we all enjoyed staying at the fishing town of Nachikatsuura a fair bit. Some of us took the opportunity to rest and recharge for the upcoming leg of our holiday while others enjoyed exploring the town on their own occasion. Energised and ready for the journey, we played one of my favourite live sets of all time in the van: Daft Punk’s ‘Alive 2007’, featuring the French DJ’s full concert given in Paris in 2007. Banger after banger, this truly is an all-time favourite of mine and I would easily go as far as calling it an electronic masterpiece of a set. I’m a bit reluctant sharing live songs on the blog, therefore I will highlight a song included in one of my most enjoyed parts of the set – ‘Technologic’ transitioning into ‘Television Rules the Nation’ and ‘Crescendolls’ – and leave you with an urgent recommendation to play this epic album once more.
