How fun it was to be back at familiar turf: Magome-juku, one of Japan’s famous Shukuba (or; post towns) and part of the Nakasendō trail marked one of this journey’s only stops we’ve visited two years ago, too. There’s something strangely comforting about being at the same location while being on the other side of the planet, though I must admit this whole trip has been an absolute joy and ease so far. It’s just so nice to be back in Japan. After hiking down the same old route we did last time, we continued our journey today to another equally as picturesque post town in Narai-juku before our final overnight stay before Tokyo brought us to the city of Suwa. So far, I’ve only wandered around the town by night but it looks absolutely lovely so I’m hoping to see a bit more of this place tomorrow before we make the journey to the looming metropolis that is Japan’s capital city tomorrow.
